About Us

The mission of the Simmons Black Muslim Union is to create a community that celebrates the intersectionality in all of our identities. We want to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity in Islam while promoting inclusivity and understanding of intersectionality in this religion. BMU aims to be a safe space for everyone and also to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where members can strive and feel free to be themselves. The Organization serves as a unifying force for students of Black and Muslim identities, providing a welcoming and inclusive space where members can connect, share their experiences, and promote a culture of belonging. Through a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the club seeks to celebrate and elevate the voices of its members, empowering them to engage in dialogue and collective action that addresses the unique challenges Black and Muslim communities face on and off campus.
