This a collaboration outing event with the MCC, BRIDGE, and BMU This tour would visit local historical sights and local favs while showing students how the black community has impacted the city of Boston throughout history. This is a fun and educational field trip to not only more about black history but to explore new places in Boston!
we will have 2 tour options that can either be guided or self-guided:
The Black Heritage Trail: The trail links more than 15 pre-Civil War structures and historical sites. More than half the City’s 2,000 black people lived on Beacon Hill during the 19th century. The historic buildings along today’s Black Heritage Trail were the homes, business, schools, and churches of Boston’s black community

The Green Book Tour: For nearly 30 years, a guide called the “Negro Motorist Green Book” provided African Americans with advice on safe places to eat and sleep when they traveled through the Jim Crow-era United States. We will explore restaurants, hotels, and tourist houses that were featured in the book.
